SM Entertainment introduced aespa in October 2020. The group debuted on November 17 with the digital single "Black Mamba" and has continued with Karina, Giselle, Winter and Ningning as its four members.

After the remake single "Forever", aespa released "Next Level" on May 17. Their first EP, Savage, followed on October 5 and became their first Billboard 200 entry, debuting at No. 20.

They closed the year with a remake of S.E.S.'s "Dreams Come True" on December 20.

aespa performed during 88rising's set at Coachella in April 2022. They released the English single "Life's Too Short" in June, followed by their second EP, Girls, on July 8. Girls reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

The Synk: Hyper Line tour began with two Seoul concerts in February 2023 and later continued in Asia, North America, South America and Europe.

The group released My World on May 8, the English single "Better Things" on August 18, and Drama on November 10.

aespa's first studio album, Armageddon, arrived on May 27 with the singles "Supernova" and "Armageddon". The group began its second world tour, Synk: Parallel Line, in Seoul in June.

The Japanese single "Hot Mess" was released on July 3, marking their Japanese debut. Four concert solo songs were collected on Synk: Parallel Line in October, followed by the EP Whiplash on October 21.

The single album Dirty Work was released on June 27, 2025. aespa followed it with the six-track EP Rich Man on September 5, their first release through SM Entertainment's partnership with Capitol Records.

Their third tour, Synk: Aexis Line, began in Seoul in August. The four solo songs performed on the tour were released together on November 17.

aespa released their second studio album, LEMONADE, on May 29, 2026. The 11-track album was preceded by "WDA (Whole Different Animal)" featuring G-Dragon.

Their first Japanese EP, KISS N TELL, followed on July 24 with six tracks.
