Where to start with BTS: a first listening route
Start with BTS's current full-group chapter, then move through MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 and the member profiles to build a listening path of your own.
BTS has a large catalogue, so a first listen does not need to begin at the beginning. This route starts with two full-group albums already documented on PopNote, then uses the member profiles to help you follow the voices and solo work that catch your attention.
It is not a ranking or a required order. Play the suggested tracks, keep the ones you want to revisit, and use the linked album and group pages to decide where to go next.
1. Start with the current full-group chapter: ARIRANG
ARIRANG is BTS's 2026 studio album and their first full-group release after all seven members completed military service. Its 14-track list places the title track, "SWIM," at number seven.
Begin with the official "SWIM" music video, then restart the album with "Body to Body" and "Aliens" before continuing at your own pace. The album page keeps the complete tracklist and release details together.
2. Try a 2020 full-length landmark: MAP OF THE SOUL : 7
MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 is a 19-track studio album led by "ON". It gives a newcomer a broad group record to explore after a newer release.
A simple first pass is "ON," "Black Swan" and "We are Bulletproof : the Eternal." If one of those directions works for you, return to the full tracklist rather than jumping to an unrelated playlist.
3. Follow the member whose voice or role stands out
The BTS group guide links to individual profiles for RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook. Each profile separates verified solo releases and activities from the group discography, so you can explore one member without losing the group context.
For a lighter next step, open the birthday calendar from a member profile and save the dates you care about. It is a fan reminder tool, not an official schedule.
Make a second listen personal
Choose one album track, one title track and one member profile to return to. That small set is enough to turn a first BTS listen into a route you can keep expanding as new group or solo releases arrive.
